Innovation Norway is currently planning a business delegation for this year's climate summit, COP30

We are now experiencing the impact of climate change and it is affecting all regions of the world. Temperature records are being broken yearly, and the weather is increasingly extreme. The world urgently needs solutions that can mitigate global warming. Norway has set ambitious climate goals and business has high ambitions for the green transition. COP30 will be yet another opportunity to discuss and share the green solutions needed to reach both national and global climate targets.

The climate summit has become the premier annual forum for discussing solutions to climate change and addressing the challenges and opportunities of the green shift. Alongside the formal negotiations between member states of the UNFCCC, business actors, non-profit organizations, research institutions, and others committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions also participate. These stakeholders engage in discussions at numerous events parallel to the official negotiations.

The business community plays a crucial role in these discussions by sharing expertise, experience, and solutions that will contribute to the green transition and towards the targets in the Paris Agreement. At COP you can meet all stakeholders engaged in climate issues. COP has evolved into a vital platform for establishing and developing partnerships, showcasing innovative climate solutions, and scaling up these efforts globally.

Planned Activities

What is COP?

COP is an international climate negotiations meeting held each year by the United Nations. COP is short for “Conference of the Parties,” meaning those countries who joined—are “party to,” in legal terms—the international treaty called the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

The UNFCCC entered into force on 21 March 1994 and of today 198 countries have ratified the Convention.

The climate summit venue is divided into a blue and a green zone. The negotiations take place in the blue zone, which is also the venue for several side events and the national pavilions. To enter the blue zone you need to hold an accreditation issued by UNFCCC. The green zone is administered by the host country and is commonly open to all without limitations.
